@dergutemoritz I'd like to see http/3 support in aleph.. it could be one of the first Clojure web servers to support it. I've spent some time looking into what it would take to do that in aleph.. and it would require as best I can tell: upgrade from Netty 4.1 to 4.2, some non-breaking churn in the io_uring impl to the Netty 4.2 way of doing things. This would also entail a minimum JDK version of 9, and if the http3 and quic libraries are included as (non-peer) deps add 11 MiB of native deps (but I would propose those could remain peer deps)
is netty's http3 stable at this point?
Yes, since last year's 4.2.2 https://netty.io/news/2025/06/05/4-2-2.html
I wouldn't mind a patch to that end! FWIW there already is a draft for updating to Netty 4.2: https://github.com/clj-commons/aleph/pull/779
It was started by @robin.lahtinen but looks like he doesn't have to capacity to address my feedback. I intend to pick it up myself when I have some cycles to spare but if you beat me to it, I wouldn't mind either 🙂
Looks like this just became a bit more urgent: https://netty.io/news/2026/09/09/4-1-EOL-announcement.html 😅
