Searching for pointers, at some point :set list stopped working for me. It's kind of very useful at times, wondering what could prevent it from working.

Is it broken for all types of files?

emilaasa14:02:02

What does set listchars say?

reborg15:02:37

@U02UHTG2YH5 yes, tried for several things over time, just stopped showing all the hidden chars

reborg15:02:55

@U6T7M9DBR listchars=tab:> ,trail:-,nbsp:+

Nundrum16:02:51

That's likely it. Mine is listchars=eol:$ so I can only guess that one of your plugins is changing it. A recursive grep through your plugins should find the culprit.

reborg16:02:46

That's definitely why newlines are not showing. As of what changed that, no clue (by grepping or other ways). In any case, I added the correct listchars to my vimrc. Thanks!

Zoltan Kalmar16:02:50

or just run :verbose set listchars?

Zoltan Kalmar16:02:46

(`:h :set-verbose`)

reborg16:02:56

that's a cool trick to keep handy, thanks. It looks that is neovim using that as a default https://neovim.io/doc/user/options.html#'listchars' and sometimes ago I switched back over to it from Vim.
