While off topic, yesterday it looks like there was some chat about Bend, OR. My wife and I are considering moving there next spring from the DC area and I’ve been trying to find out what the Clojure community might be there. Most I found was there was a team at a company called Navis.

And more or less the only source of a clojure community

8 or 10 I think. We have been trying to migrate folks over the the light side of the force

Totes jelly… See as an avid climber that’s why I’ve got to get out of DC lol. I’m pretty much done with big city life. Wife and I are planning a visit in Jan, will totally hit you up.

Lot’s of bouldering in town. And of course there is smith rocks if you feel the need to hang draws or plug cams.

I went to college in Ky so mostly used to weird sandstone. What do you have out there?

Tuff and Basalt mostly

It can get a little greasy in the summer

I have climbed at the New quite a bit

Never made it to the Red

Sandstone is some good rock climbing

Yeah the few places we have around DC, Great Falls primarily has the same greasy problem. It’s mica schist.

There is a lot on gneiss in NC, which has some mica, but honestly, it makes for some really good routes

cut your fingers to shreds lol Here there’s lots of little quartz intrusions so you got to be careful

Yep, I’ve definitely put cams in quartz pods

There is a crag in the peidmont of NC called Moore’s wall. Stellar bouldering and trad. All Gneiss

Boone has some too

I’ll have to remember that if I’m down that way

And then there are the rotten spots you have to avoid

You should. It’s off the map for most people though

But if your down in raleigh or maybe charlotte, it’s worth a look

Otherwise head up to boone NC or grayson highlands in VA if you want to boulder

Boone has boulders for days
