Thank you, it was a blast. Couldn't have done it without the crowd! I ran npm run dev just now at the airport and, lo and behold, everything worked fine 🥲

Yes, npx vite --help gives you that it just sets the hostname

so perhaps it was configured to first lookup localhost via dns and then in /etc/hosts or so

Right, that's plausible. Node is installed via nix so some shenanigans could've been going on there
