TIL i'm way out of my depth in here 🙂
@robert-stuttaford: welcome to share something from your depth 😉
why the caffeine reduction? sending you strength 🙂
@robert-stuttaford: I do this to myself every so often it seems.
@robert-stuttaford: I just want to be able to function normally without coffee. This guy inspired me to try it again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kXq8na6Q9w
caffeine holiday? me too
how much do you usually drink?
@robert-stuttaford: 2 cups + 3 cups of black tea
yeah. that's quite a lot for a day
you're definitely well into adenosine resistance
so now I'm trying to limit to 1 cup, so I don't have to say goodbye to coffee definitely
best, i think, is if you can make it a random cup, rather than a ritualised one
@robert-stuttaford: I'm very much a habit person
so that your body gets used to coping with out it
@robert-stuttaford: yes, I want to be able to go without some days
yes, i know what you mean
i'm on one GOOD cup of coffee a day, and then normal tea 1-2 times randomly after that
and that first cup is very much a ritual
@robert-stuttaford: btw I'll have some free time in the coming two months and I was planning to read up on that 'fixed' vs 'growth' mindset you talked about on Twitter
it's really quite simple, but fundamental. in http://www.insidequest.com/episode/tom-bilyeu/, Tom explains really nicely why this is so
@robert-stuttaford: I love simple but fundamental stuff
it's fascinating how your world changes when you take a small mental step back from the senses and realise that there's so much happening in your head, beneath notice
and you start to notice it, and see just how much it drives you
and then, with practice, you get to start deciding, or, at least, start to reprogram that stuff
@robert-stuttaford: it's hard but worth it
mega hard. but totally worth it. and, all that practice is directly applicable to everything else in your life!
@tjg: I like Battlestar Galactica… it follows a very vedic point of view where the world is destroyed and rebuilt in cycles
anyways… I would like to think that the world is moving towards this star trek utopia but everyone I talk to loves mad max
kinda like the whole vision created by metropolis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_(1927_film)
because the world is heading towards a future where human attention is becoming the most valuable commodity on the planet
and so as programmers, we are in a very privileged position to be part of that future
@robert-stuttaford: have you tried apple juice with lemon?
If I feel like I’m in a meeting and I’m pinching myself to stay awake because of boredom, this works better than coffee
i haven't, but i will, thank you 🙂
