following up to a thread in #off-topic about stack overflow's survey and the usage of stack overflow by clojure folks, would it be helpful (or even allowed) to take questions i've posted here and post them on stack overflow? which is to say, expose the questions i have to a wider audience? and if i do, should i share the stack overflow link here to let folks respond publicly?

It would certainly be "allowed" for your to post your questions in multiple places but I think Stack Overflow mods take a dim view of you answering your own questions, so I'm not sure how valuable it would be to post all those questions, in the hope that someone from here also re-posts their answers from here over to SO as well?

I've certainly posted links to other people's SO questions here in the relevant channel, so that someone here has at least a pointer to a question they might answer over there. SO questions that are unanswered and seem like they could be well answered by an expert from here.

Yeah, I'm honestly not sure. I had a question that in years past I would have posted to SO, but instead I posted here (hiding it in slack). However, if i post to SO, i probably won't get any/many responses, so it's better for me personally to post here. what's the best way to bridge that gap?

There are a few Clojurians who spend a lot of time answering SO questions... but at least one of those generally answers that their own pet library "solves" the OP's Q which is... self-serving at best 🙂

My understanding is that Ask is intended to be SO-for-Clojurians: persistent, public, searchable, moderated by Clojure folks (SO's mods can be somewhat... capricious...).

Of course, if logbot and zulip-mirror-bot still worked, all content from here would end up publicly searchable on ClojureVerse and Zulip... but we can blame Slack for constantly breaking those APIs.

(history up to about April '25 is available on Zulip at least)

If anyone asks anything on SO and here, I'll answer both on SO and here. ;) Well, when I'm able to.
