I just updated clj-kondo binary to v2019.11.07 and the styling has changed, giving a much bigger space around the error message. Perhaps give that version a try.

hmm, you think the actual clj-kondo binary has much to do with that? i'd imagine that flycheck is just scraping error messages due to a specified format. unlikely that that format has changed with a recent version of clj-kondo
