Job Title: Clojure Backend Software Engineer (Core Engineering)

Location: Remote‑first, with with at least 6 h overlap to US Eastern business hours
# Position Summary
We are building an application to a new stack centered on Clojure APIs, Snowflake, Terraform‑defined infrastructure, and Dockerized services. You will primarily work on backend development using Clojure, which needs to at least have parity with the Django service it is replacing. Having some knowledge of python/Django ecosystem is nice to have.
# AI Usage
We expect engineers to use AI tools day‑to‑day and to exercise strong judgment: clarify ambiguous specs, ask the right questions, and deliver exceptional pull requests, whether hand or AI authored.
# Responsibilities
## Essential functions:
- Migrate agreed Django endpoints to a consolidated set of Clojure APIs while preserving contracts.
- Build new backend features on the Clojure & Snowflake stack after migration milestones are completed.
- Write, review, and improve pull requests—enforcing correctness, clarity, security, and performance.
- Help clarify, specify, and write acceptance criteria for tickets.
- Mentor less‑experienced Clojure developers through pairing and constructive PR feedback.
- Track and evaluate emerging AI tooling and techniques; share findings with the team.
- Communicate well: ask respectful clarifying questions, speak up when a decision feels off, be kind and helpful.
## Secondary functions:
- Maintain lightweight documentation and architecture notes.
- Contribute to architecture and systems design discussions.
- Contribute to an inclusive, supportive engineering culture.
- Ongoing self‑education and knowledge sharing with the team.

- Clojure; Python APIs (Django or similar)
- Strong SQL design & optimization; experience modeling application data
