Hello, Senior Clojurians ππ» Petrus here from https://cloudafrica.net/. We are hiring a senior Clojure engineer (remote, full-time): β’ Stack: Clojure + Datomic (backed by Postgres) + https://electric.hyperfiddle.net/ + K8s + https://github.com/CloudAfrica/eacl for AuthZ + Proxmox + Qemu. β’ Engagement: Remote, full-time. β’ Timezone: ZA / EU timezone (GMT+2). β’ Experience: β¦ Networking (ISP) experience is preferred, i.e. you understand VPCs, VM management, IP leases and have self-hosted or run clusters. β¦ Electric Clojure experience is a plus. β’ Period: Full-time preferred, but can do time-limited contract. β’ What We Do: We're a regional cloud hosting provider based in South Africa. We buy big machines, place them in rented rack space in data centres in Johannesburg & Cape Town, so we essentially sublet CPU, memory & disk while managing security with edge firewalls, and billing. β’ Cloud Things: As a cloud host, we cannot depend on any external cloud hosts like AWS for core services, so we host everything on our own hardware and is e.g. why we can't back Datomic with DynamoDB because us-east-1. β’ Role: Help ship our new control plane software in a small team to replace our legacy software by the end of the year and then keep improving it. Full-stack involvement. β’ Codebase: Quality of codebase is fine. Some tests can be improve or combined. Billing systems are a bit of a mess, so keen to rewrite that in 2026 Q1. Our Datomic models are reasonable but could be better. β’ Process & Meetings: β¦ Currently 2-week cycle with planning on the Monday, Demo Day on second Friday at end of cycle. β¦ Standup is on Tuesday & Thursday morning. Otherwise not many meetings. β¦ Linear for ticketing. β’ Support: there is a dedicated support team dealing with infra, but engineers are responsible for fixing control plane problems, which could in future be at odd hours. The control plane rarely fails, though (it's usually Proxmox cluster, routing or interconnects, or host allocation issues). β’ Contact: If you're interested and looking for a Clojure role, please DM me or email <mailto:petrus@cloudafrica.net|petrus@cloudafrica.net>.
Thanks to everyone who applied β I'm working my way through applicants and will get back to everyone.
