@ramblurr I tried this macro trick and it worked pretty well: http://www.mattgreer.org/articles/embedding-svg-into-a-reagent-component/ ... my later manipulation of it was with D3/componentDidUpdate though. I’m not sure what happens if you do more normal react lifecycle things though.

I guess tagsoup manipulated it, but generally I could leave it in svg. I had to keep taking new revs from my designer colleague and we just agreed on some known IDs that she could put in with Illustrator and I could then nab from D3.
