this could probably work with parinfer

i can imagine a pre-processing step that computes the length of each tab stop, then proceeding as normal

it’s a neat idea, but until a special elastic tab character \T becomes standard, I don’t see a path for Parinfer producing column-aligning text like this that editors can display
