This generation of "business leaders" have no courage to think by themselves. They are also more narcissistic than before, and they don't care at all about the future. IMHO, the global economy is about to collapse. I really hope I am wrong.

What I took away from the article above is that there are two options: • AI companies have massively overstated their case ◦ Large scale replacement happens at ~no productivity gain -> catastrophe ◦ Large scale replacement stops at the mid-mark somewhere, with economic turmoil as the bubble bursts, and large-enough scale displacement has still happened -> catastrophe • AI companies have not overstated their case ◦ Large scale replacement happens -> catastrophe There are other potential outcomes of course, but they’re politically implausible.

AIs need human verification, there is no productivity gain. Probabilistic models are a dead end. Regarding the economy, AI is the last straw, there are more dangerous threats ahead.

Right, the point is that it doesn’t really matter either way.

Interesting how they discuss a "REPL-style environment" persisting "state" of AI agent context across "turns" being more token-efficient. https://research.perplexity.ai/articles/rethinking-search-as-code-generation
