off-topic

Rant: if your app/website/etc... supports light and dark themes, the only reasonable default is system/auto.

Just to go even more off-topic here, you've convinced me to give 24/7 dark mode a shot. Have been auto-dark at nightfall for years... but let's see what it hurts to try this Edit: Well, that was fast. Nope, can't do it.

I do dark most of the time and switch to light in really bright conditions. There's no single right answer here unless you're doing something like datalogging a phone's light sensor and need to avoid interference from the light of the screen.

I've just realized that light mode is a trained cue for me to feel good about being at my computer (it's still daylight, you should be working)

If it's daylight, I kind of want to go outside and take pictures of birds rather than stare at a computer screen.
