I just got an e-mail from Github about "Premium Requests billing reset for October for your account" Then I went looking at my Github account and it turns out I have a Copilot Pro subscription I didn't know about. How do I disable this? Can't find it.
One of the Slacks I'm in has a #horribleness-ai channel and, oh boy, is it a busy channel full of stuff like that! 🙂
oh wow ... thanks, noisesmith ... i just unchecked that "use by default" box for Gemini
and... yes, rendering has sped up... what the...???!!!
@seancorfield I swear if ed zitron replaced 1/4 of his ranting and hyperbole with helpful tips for opting out of bad AI rollouts he'd be rich
You were likely granted it (by Microsoft) because of your extensive OSS work?
Do you have any payment methods attached to your GH billing? Have they ever charged you anything?
I have a payment method, I sponsor Rich Hickey and some other folks :)
I have had it for a while, never got charged for it either and I am using it daily for little things (basically rewording doc(strings). I don’t think you can disable it, I also looked for that initially. If you don’t use it there’s little to worry about imho.
related, I heard about huge slowdown in google drive that can be eliminated by finding a hidden setting and turning off gemini integration it's a newly ascending hostile pattern I guess https://bsky.app/profile/lizshannonmiller.com/post/3m46tlcxo4c25
