Initially I thought that the title implies that using Clojure is good for your health, so you would live longer if you use Clojure 😄
As much as I loathe static typing, it is hard to see a health hazard. It could be backwards. If I am not afraid of looking weird by using a Lisp, then I am also likely to be a weird vegetarian, or non-smoker back in the day. I have great hopes for this thread.
Oops, never thought the title will be interpreted like this. But yes, programming with Clojure seems to be least stressful.
Any lastpass users? How have things been going for you? The chrome extension asks me to reload every time and i feel it's ability to detect what site I'm on in order to update passwords and give good prompts hasnt been working to well. (though this might be because as a dev i use the web in a more complex way?). Has anyone been switched to something else and been noticeably happier?
Have switched to BitWarden from LastPass quite some time ago. Pretty happy with it, not in small part because it's open-source.
I'm an ex-lastpass user. I switched to Nordpass when I signed up to get Nord VPN. NordPass is available without the VPN as well https://nordpass.com/ Nordpass works very well across laptops and android tables & phone. It seems to work much better on web pages, not as flaky as lastpass Quite easy to migrate my passwords to Nordpass
I self-host my own bitwarden server. Works very well, and the extension for firefox (and chrome) works very well too.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
https://www.wired.com/story/lastpass-engineer-breach-security-roundup/ I would encourage you to read about the breach they suffered last year, which reads like a textbook example of how not to do security engineering. It's not much of an exaggeration to say this is an industrial-scale data security accident.
Switched from lastpass to 1Password which seems to hit a reasonable compromise between security and convince. Works great on both my Mac and iPhone 👌
@U2FRKM4TW One of the things I just discovered with 1Password is that it provides a sha-agent, letting me keep my private keys and passcodes in 1Password and authenticate when needed (for github desktop, git cli, etc.) with just a fingerprint. Does bitwarden have anything like that, if you know?
Keepass is also worth considering. I moved to it from 1password after they released v8 which was/is full of bugs for me
Pair it with private sync (gdrive, icloud etc) and a decent client like strongbox on osx and it’s indistinguishable from 1pwd in terms of ux
@UTFAPNRPT No clue, I use plain files for that.
Seems like the devs are interested, but keep bumping it down the road in favor of other features. https://community.bitwarden.com/t/implement-ssh-agent-protocol/833
Personally, I don't see how it's a useful feature at all - having a key per device is easy and more manageable in case of a device loss or a potential leakage.
After the last security incident, I switched from Lastpass to KeepassXC. The browser extension works for me, but I have to set the URLs only to the main domain (e.g. https://clojure.org) so that it matches all subdomains (e.g. https://login.clojure.org). To sync it with my other devices, I store my password on a local NAS and can recommend Keepassium on iOS, which will sync with the local copy if available (when I’m at home), otherwise use the copy.
