Not sure where meta slack questions go but if I save a comment into my saved items is that going to disappear when the comment itself eventually disappears?

olaf00:09:53

No. I've stuff saved already disappeared. But keep in mind that you need to save at least one post in a thread to save it entirely. The first message is not saving the entire thread unfortunately.

@U01UYD2CL10 My recommendation: https://clojurians.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/180378-slack-archive (you'll need to sign up for a free Zulip account there) or https://clojurians-log.clojureverse.org/ (publicly web searchable)

Thanks folks. It's what I figured the advice would be but wanted to double check.

Chase01:09:43

I've seen those archives before but then I have to remember what I had saved and/or when it was posted.

And I've never really figured out the Zulip...UX(?) but that's just me. I'll copy paste the good stuff into a note of my own or something.

> I'll copy paste the good stuff into a note of my own or something. That's what I always do by default. Even if the answer to your initial question is "yes" now, you have no control over when it becomes "no" and all your data is gone. That's apart from all other benefits of storing all the data in a single controlled place.

@chase-lambert #slack-help but I don't know the answer to that Q.

seancorfield00:09:24

@chase-lambert I would certainly not rely on Slack making any historical messages available via any means. Zulip and ClojureVerse both have fully-searchable archives.
