Today I found out that WhatsApp Helper on Mac was consuming 572MB of RAM.

Made me check “Activity monitor” and noticed this

I’d say that’s quite a lot of memory for reading a freaking book. 😄

Not sure if Calibre is much better but it's an alternative. https://calibre-ebook.com

Alas, not a 100% alternative because of the DRM.

In long - always makes me think of Joe Armstrong’s talk - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKXe3HUG2l4

But in short I just cannot really fathom how a few kb’s of short message delivery should require 600 mbs of RAM non-stop consumption.

You can strip out the DRM (which I do anyway in order to back up the books), then read it in any number of programs. I use Apple Books because, a) it’s there, and b) there is no b.

Anti-DRM tools always lag behind DRM, sometimes by quite some time.

Which is why you should never update the Kindle app.
