@ackerleytng it's also used when you take a concept that is only implicitly represented, and represent it explicitly. Many databases have transact/commit operations, but in Datomic a transaction is a first class "thing" on par with entities. You can reference it, attach metadata, etc.

Thanks @U07FP7QJ0 that was a great explanation! Your illustration with Datomic helped!

Does anyone know of a slack channel similar to this one for emacs users?

robertfw22:11:13

Do you mean a slack server? This server does have #emacs

lambduhhh22:11:45

Just looking for a welcoming community space such as this one where I can ask questions regarding emacs workflow (as I am a new user)

lambduhhh22:11:31

I didn't realize there was #emacs in this slack! I have now joined that channel but am still looking for something a little more general.

sogaiu22:11:16

i guess the places listed at the following might not be real-time enough? https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/EmacsForums

lambduhhh23:11:02

@UG1C3AD5Z Thank you for the link. Yes, I was looking for more of a realtime chat option but I appreciate this info!

sogaiu23:11:00

i'd also like to find some good real-time option that's not necessarily clojure-focused -- i was told of a pretty helpful place, but it's quite focused on doom-emacs, so i'm not sure how helpful that would be for your case. fwiw, there's also a #spacemacs

sogaiu23:11:37

may be asking about this at #emacs might turn up some useful results?

lambduhhh23:11:17

Thanks, I will do so!

I used to hang out in #emacs on freenode, if IRC is your thing. Very low tolerance for bigots in 2015.

robertfw22:11:32

I suppose the slack parlance is "workspace" instead of server
