@borkdude I've been really happy using an X250 and X270 with Ubuntu. If the Thinkpad model is super new you might want to check that it's compatible with the version of Ubuntu you want to use.
XPS15 + Pop OS rather than Thinkpad + Ubuntu, but I don't miss paying £1000 extra for my laptop
yes, some guy on Reddit only had 2.5 hours but some Youtube reviews say 7 hours while surfing the web
so it seems experiences vary. when I run a lot of GraalVM compilations on my Mac it’s also empty before I know it, so I guess it really depends
t480 weighs a bit more (1.58 vs 1.46), I really like a light laptop with still good performance. typical usage for me is working 2 or 3 hours at a coffee place, then charge at home. so I guess it’s ok
I use a Thinkpad X1 Carbon Extreme. Works wonderfully with Arch Linux (and by extension, JVM/Clojure)
@dharrigan I can find the Thinkpad X1 Extreme and the Thinkpad X1 Carbon, but they are not the same I guess?
No, the X1 Carbon you can't upgrade once you've bought it. X1 Carbon Extreme, you can swap out the memory, ssd
I bought basic X1 Carbon Extreme, then added my own SODIMMS and and extra NVMe drive, at a vastly cheaper price 🙂
@dharrigan cool. do you have a link to the lenovo site for that model? can’t find it even using their search…

Hi there, I wanted to share my experience contributing to nREPL since it’s the first major lib I’ve contributed to and with relatively low amount of Clojure experience. I had drafted an article here [Edit: http://e69e7464.ngrok.io/blog/contributing-to-nrepl.html] but wanted some feedback. Does it feel worth the read or is it contemptuous narcissism?
I enjoyed reading it. I also think there can't be enough of this kind of articles, as I think it would open the door for more people to contribute to open source.
Your localhost is different than our localhost 🙂
unless you are offering accounts on your system to readers
Ack! I meant this URL http://e69e7464.ngrok.io/blog/contributing-to-nrepl.html
I enjoyed reading that. Honestly skimming it, but since it was so nicely factored into small paragraphs, it was easy to see where it was going. I would make the title more general, something like "Learning to contribute in Clojure." I don't know, something witty. I don't think it matters that it involves nREPL or the cmdline. Might even put off people who don't care about those things.
I think I only read it because I recognize you as an outstanding eccentric in the local NYC community. Otherwise, no nREPL for me.
