Someone was showing me that bob marting (uncle bob) was teaching clojure as part lof his functional programming series

emccue14:12:54

what is zookeeper used for?

emccue14:12:12

Best i can gather from reading the docs is something something distributed systems

emccue14:12:27

but I don't really have a good grasp on when it should be used

emccue14:12:32

(or a tool like it)

valtteri15:12:10

It’s used mainly for storing tiny amounts of coordination data in fault tolerant way and providing that data deterministically to clients, which is actually quite hard to achieve in distributed environment.

valtteri15:12:09

I mean data such as “what are nodes in this cluster?” or “what is the ip-address of master node?” “can I touch this thing?”

Conor16:12:02

It's like Consul but more annoying to use

3Jane16:12:08

Kafka uses it but apparently they want to migrate away from it

mpenet17:12:47

What do they want to use instead?

3Jane11:12:39

Not sure actually; I found a post from Banzai Cloud about how they modified it to work with etcd so that sounds right

Didn't I hear Alex Miller mention this band on a podcast? Looks and sounds like the jam band genre to me. That is my guess after 4 minutes. Guys can probably play all styles of music, Snoop Dogg covers, etc. 4 minute impression.

That's where I discovered this. Been listening to all their stuff on YouTube.

If the sounds in this video appeal to you, maybe you're headed in a funk direction. This is a seasonal example. https://youtu.be/2qKHbQ1F18o

Huh. Crazy how much music can be one rabbit hole over from my own rabbit hole.
