@emccue you could probably put down common lisp as a close alternative

benzap02:08:07

Just be careful, some true lisp elitists might debate you over whether clojure is really considered a lisp

emccue03:08:09

curious as to why that is

emccue03:08:26

other than racket for school work freshman year I havent really used a lisp other than clojure

emccue03:08:55

so im not quite at whatever level those elites are

henrik09:08:04

If Clojure is not (branded as) a LISP, that’s good. It just makes it easier to sell to people who don’t know anything about, but still fear, LISP.

henrik09:08:57

Whereas the people who know LISP are already aware of, and made up their minds about Clojure.

danm09:08:08

I'm also curious about it tbh. I mean, looks like a duck. Quacks like a duck...

jgh09:08:04

i find data structures much nicer in clojure than cl

jgh09:08:30

+ immutability

jgh09:08:22

also "Snapchat" is a technical skill? lol

danm10:08:07

Sorry what?

danm10:08:22

Have you just found that on a CV or something?

3Jane10:08:50

that list that was posted above

3Jane10:08:00

I wondered about “Trello”. And they have a heckuvalot of 3d / fx tools.

dominicm10:08:31

^ immediate hire for anyone with an office kitchen 😄

jgh10:08:16

most office kitchens only have a microwave though so I make sure to study up: https://www.amazon.com/Microwave-Cooking-One-Marie-Smith/dp/1565546660

😂 4
3Jane10:08:02

wow, creepy

jgh10:08:57

huh i didnt realize microwave cooking is a real thing

sundarj10:08:01

it's the modern hansel and gretel

danm10:08:56

I think my parents have that book

danm10:08:08

It came with their first ever microwave back in the 70s or something

danm10:08:56

Back when people needed to know how to use these new fangled things, and that you could make a sponge pudding in 4 minutes instead of 3-4 hours

Conor10:08:23

My parents have one too, there is a recipe for microwave roast chicken in it

vijaykiran13:08:49

It is a thing - and I was cooking in microwave for nearly 6 months - especially being a single person, you can only afford/get just a room, without kitchen - that was the best way to eat cooked meal - rice and indian curries 🙂

3Jane13:08:05

you can kinda get by, but a standard microwave* lacks good ways of cooking protein for me

3Jane13:08:40

steamed veg and steamed rice are excellent, but for “cook anything and everything when you have no stove” I’d rather buy a good multifunctional rice cooker

vijaykiran13:08:11

Indeed - but you can fry stuff in Ricecooker

vijaykiran13:08:27

Also, for protein is via dal (lentils)

3Jane13:08:39

never tried 🙂 I have, however, used a rice cooker to bake a cake 😄

3Jane13:08:46

and make yogurt

vijaykiran13:08:29

Agreed, those are perfect - for Yogurt I never needed anything extra - one of the advantages of living in hot climate

There is a good tutorial about how to pack a closure compiler (js) lib? Official docs are insanely huge and on the "outside internet" no one talk about closure compiler
