US folks: is it common that you have to pay for “first month + last month” if you subscribe to a service with a monthly fee? I’m talking about becoming a subscriber and paying the initial fee. In Finland I haven’t seen this.. Our customer (from US) claims that it’s normal there from consumer point of view. I don’t believe him. 🙂

@valtteri it's not uncommon, but normally only for utilities (water, power, sewage, telephone, internet, cell phone). I'd be really surprised to see that for something like a online service.

This case is something between online service and utility so it’s probably not out of question and my assumption was wrong. Thanks for the answer @tbaldridge!
