I'm not a python guy, but regardless of language, I usually defer daemonization to tools like runit. http://jtimberman.housepub.org/blog/2012/12/29/process-supervision-solved-problem/ http://smarden.org/runit/

beppu02:02:38

I rarely write my own daemonizaiton code anymore.

akiroz03:02:52

I usually use systemd units for daemonization~

fellshard04:02:11

The hooks for Python daemonization are inconsistent and don't work very well :X

fellshard04:02:33

And that's the parts that allow it to be used with systemd

Hi, does anyone know if the videos from clojure west are availble for download somewhere?

jeffh-fp14:02:28

(2016 link)

sveri14:02:56

Thanks for the youtube link, but I meant a direct download

jeffh-fp14:02:25

that's how I downloaded them all 🙂

jeffh-fp14:02:47

it will download all the videos in a playlist if you give it a playlist link

sveri14:02:55

Seems I have to go that route, wanted to have it on my phone instantly, but seems like there is no easy way

arnaud_bos14:02:36

@sveri I'm used to convert Youtube playlists into podcast format with Podsync (http://podsync.net/) and then use Pocket Casts (http://www.shiftyjelly.com/pocketcasts/) for mobile playback, which does a wonderful work as far as I'm concerned

sveri14:02:40

@arnaud_bos that looks good, does it work for video too?

arnaud_bos14:02:57

+ Chromecast playback if you're into this kind of things.

sveri15:02:44

Cool, thank you

Alex Miller (Clojure team)15:02:11

I thought YouTube just released some kind of offline download thing

arnaud_bos15:02:28

I think it depends which country you're in, I don't have in France

sveri15:02:52

Hm, living in germany I dont see any option in the youtube app (on android)

tbaldridge16:02:34

I bought this program awhile back and it works great for downloading Youtube videos. It's for Windows, Mac, Linux https://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-videodownloader

tbaldridge16:02:42

Fairly generic name, but it works really well.

romain18:02:36

@alexmiller you mean YouTube Go ? It's for emerging markets atm

dpsutton18:02:55

my youtube app allows for downloading videos on a recent android phone

sveri20:02:34

@dpsutton which android version do you have?

dpsutton20:02:57

7.1.1. I'm on a nexus 6p

sveri20:02:39

ok, I guess I am on 5.something. Might be so on a new version.
