dominicm: interesting, thanks for the pointer

plexus11:06:01

how do people pronounce "Nashorn" (the Javascript engine)

plexus11:06:20

it's a German word, but my guess is not many non-Germans pronounce it the German way

borkdude11:06:51

@plexus: so, basically German

plexus11:06:42

funny, I did a word search for "pronunciation" on that page but failed to see the IPA

borkdude11:06:51

@plexus: I always pronounce it as nash-horn, but that's incorrect apparently

plexus11:06:15

so did I until I learned it's actually just German for "rhino", now I'm conflicted

plexus11:06:50

I should have stuck to writing blog posts 🙂 🎬 🎤

borkdude11:06:16

@plexus: you can just say, because I'm living in Germany, I abide with the local pronuncation

plexus11:06:53

yeah exactly 🙂

dominicm14:06:50

I always wondered about nashorn.

dominicm14:06:12

I love saying german words, they just "sound" german. I will admit that I put the worse accent on ever when I say it.

Aww, very cool! Just looked in my mail and was surprised to see @ericnormand kindly sent wonderful stickers, a pin & an elegant note for my admittedly modest contributions to https://purelyfunctional.tv/

The LispCast sticker reminds me of Japanese calligraphy we did once in a class...

tjg14:06:01

Looking at that & the cljs stickers, I think the Clojure community has the best logo designs. I normally don't like industry t-shirts, but I have a few Incanter and even a Clojure t-shirt, because I think the logos stand well on their own, regardless of the projects they represent.

(I also like Shen's logo, and I suspect it doesn't appropriate Chinese culture, because the author seems to have integrated parts of that culture seriously into his own life...)

I'm dealing with some legacy code here, Backbone. Anyone I can ask this a question about?

seylerius21:06:13

Why on earth do users stick all their crap in a non-standard location sometimes? They stuck everything into C:\data

seylerius21:06:23

For no good reason.
