I'm wondering if there was a time where it was hard to get Ruby developers because it was a little bit a niche like Clojure is now

before Rails happened? ;)

back when you didn't have three month evening programs promising to teach you to program and get you a job using ruby

afaik it was very popular in Japan before Rails happened, but mostly just in Japan

so yes, that's probably the time when it stopped being niche

my first contact with Ruby was around 2005 toying with RPG maker. ~5y later I knew Rails and didn’t recognise the language until much later 😄

RPG Maker? which version? I used 2000 but I can't remember using any Ruby

but I spent a load of time trying to build some games, was a great experience!
