I've been using an open source project funcool/cats, and I would like to work on a local version of it and in individual projects choose whether I want the standard version, or my local custom version. How would this be possible?

I've seen old answers related to lein install, but the majority were from a few years ago, and also referenced Maven, which I think is not as integrated in the clojure community anymore...
