Since the question was answered on Freenode's IRC channel: Leiningen only checks :test-paths for tests, and doesn't look in :source-paths. Hence, the :test-profile's :source-paths has no impact on calls to lein test (except adding additional source files, but that shouldn't really impact anyone)
