Good morning and goodbye London. I'm going back 'up north' for three weeks over Christmas this evening. I will return in 2016.

thomas08:12:09

three weeks? slacker 😉

agile_geek09:12:39

no money for three weeks!

keeds09:12:33

Christmas is cancelled!

agile_geek10:12:54

and I'm not really slacking as I'm working on a new biz idea

thomas10:12:40

@agile_geek: sounds good.... let me know if you need some clj devs 😉

agile_geek10:12:36

@thomas: I need some customer first! Then a clearer idea of what problem to solve. That's what I've got various meetings set up to talk about.

xlevus10:12:54

my company will be your customer, providing you write it in clojure, contract out the devlopment (to my company), for >100% of the cost of your services

xlevus10:12:43

It's a business strategy popular with powerful Italians everywhere.

mccraigmccraig10:12:49

@agile_geek: first customers then problem ?

mccraigmccraig10:12:49

i suppose if you are good at persuading peeps, since everyone has problems, that could work

agile_geek10:12:17

@mccraigmccraig: It's more about talking to ppl about the problems they have within a rough idea of what I want to do then focussing on what pain point to solve for them. No point building something no one wants.

mccraigmccraig10:12:01

indeed... it's always a dance. the killer feature for the app i'm working on didn't become apparent until we started talking to potential customers

mccraigmccraig10:12:14

we discovered this early enough that no pivot was required 😄

mccraigmccraig10:12:36

though there was some considerable requirements creep

mccraigmccraig10:12:58

and some extra late nights for me

xlevus10:12:57

bloody requirements

xlevus11:12:00

always creepin'

xlevus11:12:06

watching you while you poop

mccraigmccraig11:12:21

damn their damnable hides

mccraigmccraig11:12:12

though they are starting to sound a bit like santa... has anyone ever seen santa and some requirements at the same time ?

agile_geek11:12:42

requirements also travel at faster then the speed of light like Santa

mccraigmccraig11:12:11

i've been doing santa physics with my 5yr old son... we're currently reckoning that santa is some sort of self-replicating autonomous machine to avoid the heat/relativity problems... problem is, where does all the mass come from ?

mccraigmccraig11:12:34

and how do the santabots get merged on boxing day ?

xlevus11:12:28

the Santa grey-goo is probably the leading cause of deforestation

xlevus11:12:02

and maybe, they don't get merged. Maybe they become the present

mccraigmccraig11:12:52

oh, nice ! but does that mean that different santabots have different densities or sizes according to the target mass of the present ?

mccraigmccraig11:12:27

or are they uniform, and there is some sort of overflow shedding mechanism... an unexplained extra uncle at christmas dinner who wanders absent-mindedly away after the queen's speech or something

xlevus11:12:26

I'd imagine they'd be smart enough to not overharvest

xlevus11:12:41

So if you got one small present, you get a tiny santa

xlevus11:12:49

maybe they fly from house to house, dropping off presents, reducing their mass. And topping up on cookies and milk.

xlevus11:12:32

And all the naughty kids get the leftover santa, as coal.

mccraigmccraig11:12:22

ah, that's it... and i bet calculating the optimal number of santas is NP complete

mccraigmccraig11:12:03

and y'all thought this was off-topic 😄

agile_geek17:12:53

I'm out of here ldn see u next year. You've been a wonderful audience have a Happy Christmas. 👋

mccraigmccraig17:12:59

london - what's that but a browny smear just over the horizon ?

mccraigmccraig17:12:11

and yorkshire is over my horizon's horizon. if i hadn't grown up near the peak district i'm not sure i would believe in it

agile_geek18:12:05

Yorkshire is that geeny, hilly smear on my horizon..try 90 miles North of York!
