Hey Clojurians (it’s me back again 🙂), Would you like to work with a super friendly 🤝:skin-tone-2-4:, fully remote distributed international 🧑💻:female-technologist: & awesome Clojure Product team who are looking to innovate and add new features to their FinTech platform / system? We are looking for a freelance Senior Clojure Dev (4-5+ years in Clojure) to join the team. Notes: Full Time Contract 30-40h per week required, Fully Remote Tech Stack: Clojure / Cljs (Front End Experience is not required), AWS Lambda, ElasticSearch, Ansible, Kubernetes Interested? Drop me a DM.
I think you shouldn't post in jobs and remote-jobs simultaneously. We get it.
For me it looks somewhat desperate if somebody posts into both channels at the same time.
@U028ART884X thanks for your input, it’s appreciated
IMHO I don’t think it looks desperate and was the convention for quite a while.
Hmmmm.... What is the general consensus here? Does he, or does he not look desperate?
Agreed with @U086KE6TX; just trying to feed the community 👍:skin-tone-3: It was always normal to post on both channels, unless the rules suddenly changed; happy to remove one if so 🙂
There were really a lot of people that were posting that they need jobs and they were even moved into a separate channel because of this: #available-for-jobs Also I saw several job posts who were removed because they offered non-remote positions but posted in both jobs channels and they didn't care to provide information which kind of position they offer. So if those ones were removed then I'd expect that people that offer remote-only positions would not be posting in regular #jobs channel and instead only post in #remote-jobs. But as you posted into both you probably offer both kinds of positions and you didn't write that in your ad. Those who look for a job are happy to get any notification but they most probably participate in both channels anyway.
@U017MP4D71R I am curious how else can you justify for us your acivity here. For example, how do you "feed the community"? Why would you hide company information then? Let us know how are you feeding us. I for one am intrigued.
Well I didn't expect that he'll go that far but he did. I only wanted to say that a recruiter shouldn't https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Sweat for people as there are more than enough. The quantity of posts won't increase candidate amount because for instance I don't even try to contact this specific recruiter anymore. So probably others don't bother either. A person can claim that he's a holy savior but being overboard only harms in this case. I think this discussion could become really toxic and I don't think there is value in it. I think that if people don't contact a recruiter (not this specific one) then it's not the amount of people who saw the ad but something else. For instance the community could already started to understand how it works and it got "exhausted from raw material" or they learned something they wish they knew from the start. For instance a person could wait for a month for a reply and then get either a rejection or nothing at all -- not even a compensation for time when he could've taken a different basic job.
@U02CBGVHG2G Hey, come on this is a community, let’s keep professional and positive energy 🙂. As I have mentioned to you - if you DM me. I can tell you Company details very clearly.
@U028ART884X thanks for contributing.
The #jobs channel isn't called #onsite-jobs, it's called #jobs, so I'd expect jobs to be posted there, remote or otherwise. Also, the description of that channel reads as follows: > Clojure(Script)-related job offers (specify upfront about remote working, location-boundedness, visa sponsorship etc). That seems pretty clear to me, so I don't see what the problem is. Also, this channel isn't a forum for bullying recruiters who are just doing their job.
Thanks everyone for your kind messages and feedback. Good to let you all know that we have now hired 2 freelancers and the position is now filled. Thanks for everyone that applied 😄
And if anyone is looking for something now, ping me and let’s collaborate and lets see what we can find you 🙂
@U017MP4D71R "collaborate"? I thought we would be "working" together?
