Question for the moderators of this channel: we have a position for a software engineer that will work "near" clojure (but in a different stack, we have two, one of which is clojure), we do regard experience with clojure and the clojure philosophies (e.g. simplicity, immutability, etc...) a big plus. Would it be OK to post a job description here or preferably not? Totally understand if not, don't want to violate the rules of the channel here.

I'm not a mod, so this is not an official recommendation in any way.... My feeling is that as long as you clearly explain the role's and your company's relationship to Clojure, then I'm guessing it might be ok ok. Especially if there is a chance that they may help with coding/PRs/tests/maintenance of Clojure code at some point in the future. I could see the decision going either way TBH.

(Disclaimer: not a moderator) I would say no only because "must be Clojure/ClojureScript jobs" implies to me that the job will require you to make use of Clojure and its ecosystem. If a job really wants me to just use React + TypeScript and occasionally interact with some service written in Clojure, that wouldn't be allowed to posted here I think.

I am one of the Admins here and I would prefer that we do not open the two main job channels up to non-Clojure/Script jobs, partly because recruiters have a tendency to see that sort of thing and then also post non-Clojure/Script jobs (we have enough problems with clueless recruiters not reading the Welcome Message and/or not following the rules as it is).

(I dropped a link to this thread into the Admin channel to see if other admins have a strong opinion to the contrary)

@U04V70XH6 I appreciate that and understand the concerns. I'll hold off until a conclusion is reached.

So far the consensus of the Admins that have responded has been "no, non-Clojure/Script jobs are off-topic here".
