:man-surfing: Hiring Now! Nette: Research OS for the Web · https://www.nette.io/ · tools for thought · future of work · human computer interaction

prnc16:03:00

Hello 👋 I’m Paweł—building Nette has been my dream for a very long time—now coming to fruition! I want you to build it with me... 🙃 This may be your dream job as well—if you’re interested in building tools that help people think better and feel better— etc. You might have found the right place and I welcome you 🥧

hi, @prnc , I was wondering if you could compare your vision to what https://roamresearch.com/ has brought to the market. (Side note: https://roamresearch.com/ is also a heavy Clojure shop. Great minds think alike, as they say 😉 )

In terms of comparison I can’t say much here that wouldn’t be very superficial (or maybe not super accurate); with that in mind... Nette is about research (/ sense-making / learning /understanding / etc.) as a multi stage complex process with both computer and human in the loop :) That requires you to have a somewhat granular & unified representation of information (ideally common to both life-forms ;P), to be able to provide a lot of agency and expressiveness over that information for the user and a lot of support in that process from the computer. It also means integrating well with existing workflows and avoiding a sharp distinction between knowledge curation and knowledge creation. In slightly more practical terms—you should have roughly the same ‘language’ and the same tools available to you when working with your own e.g. notes, as you have when you’re working with other types of media (say sources in your research—webpages, images, tweets etc.). Also interactive and fun 😉 // N.B.: I’m saying research but it can be: finding running shoes, learning about modular synths, going on holiday, re-decorating, anything. E.g. if you think about graph, you want to have direct access to nodes and links, where they are not just a representation of something else but are interactive “objects” on their own, so you can manipulate them directly. I realise this may sound somewhat abstract... 🙂 Also, not sure if this counts as a comparison but I hope it gives you a little bit more sense of the principles behind the project.

It is implemented as a kind of zoomable interface 🙂

@prnc I see the salary quoted in GBP - can you clarify if these are remote (UK), remote (EU time zones), on-site (eventually), something else?

prnc17:03:38

Hi @braden.shepherdson, My apologies, I was convinced that the info is in the description there! I think it’s me being cheeky and putting the company location as “The World Wide Web” 🙂 It is fully remote—I’m personally based in London and ideally looking for someone in -6 to +6 UTC. Does that help? :)
