Not necessarily. At least 1/2 our team is remote. I think we have a preference for people to be based in the UK; though we do have 2 people working productively from canada.
Just out of curiousity: what is the reason for this preference? Proximity? Legal things? Culture? Time zone? …
I don’t know the details -- I believe there can sometimes be extra hoops to jump through depending on your location / status. I think it’s often easier to take on contractors if they’re outside of the UK… and then there are reasons to prefer staff over contractors.
