Searching “clojure or cljs” => eight jobs here https://kennytilton.github.io/whoishiring/ Still early in the month so keep checking.
How are the clojure salaries in Canada?
in my experience, having written Clojure for both a Canadian company before moving to a U.S. company (I am an American living in the states), unfortunately, not nearly as good. But maybe better when compared to jobs using other languages within Canada?
Aah, so you are saying Clojure pay is better than say Go or Ruby ?
sorry I can only compare anecdotally between the U.S. and Canada…which is maybe not useful to you, I dunno. I don’t know about Clojure vs. other languages within Canada.
Ohh, thats alright. Thanks anyway.
(but: at least in the U.S., it’s one of the highest paid compared to other languages)
Salaries will naturally be lower, but I'm not sure how they compare once cost of living is factored in.
WoW! So, US is the place to be for clojure. Thanks for the info.
For that matter, though, salaries range quite a bit just in the US... don't expect SF pay in Des Moines 🙂
@U0QNQ3P3L I looked at moving to Toronto for a Clojure job and even with cost-of-living factored in it was no contest.
that is, NYC (!) was a better place to be, in terms of overall costs vs. income
@U0B6ER3U3 I imagine so... it's a good market right now for devs, has been for years.
True Relatively comparing with any other Industry IT is great.
And it is gonna be like this for the forseeable future.
“mussolini’ ?
-> #jobs-discuss please...
#jobs is meant for announcements only.
@U04V70XH6 Oops Sorry! Will keep that in mind.
Canadian tech salaries are much lower than USA in general anyway, and especially so when cost of living is factored in because while cities like LA and SF are more expensive than Toronto, they aren't, say, twice as expensive.
if you consider a sr dev salary in Canada (roughly $120k CAD I've heard), which works out to be ~$90k USD, to sr dev salary in California...more like $150-200k USD...making more than twice what you were making in Canada is not a crazy thing.
that’s true, although I think Toronto is a surprisingly expensive city considering transit and housing costs
whoops, sorry @U04V70XH6
at least we’re in a thread 😄
