I'm curious @erichmond, do you get people who do not have an interest in music, at all? I always thought that was an innately human thing.
@ricardo haha, no, but our current company really likes music. and this product we’re building is actually more about the quality of tools we can built to help musicians be more creative then it is about the technology itself
and I have met people who are like “music is cool, but I want to build a next-gen CQRS based real-time pipeline in a mix of clojure and haskell, I don’t care what helps musicians make music better”
ideally they’ll be excited to talk to, and work with musicians to come up with technology solutions that will help the successful of music creation.
@erichmond Maybe that should be point 1 on the "What should interest you" section, not the last one. 🙂
haha, if I could go back, I’d definitely change the job description. I was actually worried I wouldn’t get enough candidates
but it turns out we got well over 100 replies, so I wish I had filtered harder up-front
its just that, whatever we build has to be in service of the musician, it can’t be tech for techs sake, which I know can be an issue for people
yeah! http://conversesamplelibrary.com was the first project that is 100% clojure back-end that we’ve done.
Tech for tech's sake: Ugh. That's an issue on any area, unless you're just doing things on your own for your own enjoyment.
@erichmond as a fellow musician, I say thank you :)
