I'm curious @erichmond, do you get people who do not have an interest in music, at all? I always thought that was an innately human thing.

erichmond12:08:44

@ricardo haha, no, but our current company really likes music. and this product we’re building is actually more about the quality of tools we can built to help musicians be more creative then it is about the technology itself

erichmond12:08:36

and I have met people who are like “music is cool, but I want to build a next-gen CQRS based real-time pipeline in a mix of clojure and haskell, I don’t care what helps musicians make music better”

erichmond12:08:45

and for these next couple of hires we want to invert that

erichmond12:08:09

ideally they’ll be excited to talk to, and work with musicians to come up with technology solutions that will help the successful of music creation.

ricardo12:08:11

@erichmond Maybe that should be point 1 on the "What should interest you" section, not the last one. 🙂

erichmond12:08:45

haha, if I could go back, I’d definitely change the job description. I was actually worried I wouldn’t get enough candidates

erichmond12:08:00

but it turns out we got well over 100 replies, so I wish I had filtered harder up-front

erichmond12:08:16

thats OK tho, we actually are building a CQRS-ish real-time-ish pipeline-ish site

erichmond12:08:22

so there is some cool stuff happening

ricardo12:08:49

Neat. Always happy to see Clojure getting more use. 👍

erichmond12:08:50

its just that, whatever we build has to be in service of the musician, it can’t be tech for techs sake, which I know can be an issue for people

erichmond12:08:26

yeah! http://conversesamplelibrary.com was the first project that is 100% clojure back-end that we’ve done.

erichmond12:08:46

and it went extremely well

ricardo12:08:30

Tech for tech's sake: Ugh. That's an issue on any area, unless you're just doing things on your own for your own enjoyment.

ricardo12:08:15

Haven't really run into one of them in a while, though.

wamaral14:08:53

@erichmond as a fellow musician, I say thank you :)

benjyz18:08:43

I’m hiring clojure devs with finance experience (short-term/long-term)

hiredman19:08:22

benjyz: some more details would be nice. what company and where would be good.

georgek20:08:21

@benjyz I’d love to hear more about what you are doing. I don’t have finance experience buuuut. 😉

Anyone aware of companies in NYC which use Clojure? Or maybe I should phrase it this way: I'm looking for a mix Java/Clojure job in NYC, does anyone know places that are hiring? Thanks
