anyone know any places doing clojure hiring in/around SF? i'm in need of a job

danielcompton07:06:21

@voidlily have a look through the scroll back, I think there's a few SF ones. Also checkout the HN who's hiring thread, there's a few companies in there too. Specifically there's Factual, Climate Corp, and Funding Circle

martinklepsch09:06:51

CircleCI is also based in SF

jcsims14:06:19

@voidlily: Staples SparX is looking for Clojure devs: http://www.staples-sparx.com/jobs/

jcsims14:06:18

(we’re in San Mateo, just south of SF)

damionjunk14:06:00

@jcsims: are you guys hiring remotes?

Slackbot14:06:00

I think you mean gang...

sjors14:06:23

Just wanted to let you know that we at Elmar Reizen (http://www.vakantiediscounter.nl) are looking for Clojure (and Scala) developers in Amsterdam, NL. You can find the add here: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs2/view/55495781

jcsims14:06:47

@damionjunk: not typically, but it wouldn't be the first time. I'd encourage you to apply if you're interested. I can also answer questions later today if you have any.

dkvasnicka14:06:55

@sjors: spark, hadoop, clj... sounds like my kind of thing, do you do remote (EU timezone)? simple_smile (there should be an emoticon for this question)

damionjunk14:06:26

@jcsims: Ok, I’ll at least send an email. I’ve been doing Clojure / “Data Science” stuff for a few years now, but mostly I’m a back end software developer working with my former PhD advisor’s science… simple_smile I’m in the Midwest (Nashville, TN).

sjors14:06:17

@dkvasnicka: thanks for your interest! I am sorry, but the job is in house.

dkvasnicka14:06:40

@sjors: no problem, understood 😉

sjors14:06:56

We do give some relocation support.

sjors14:06:21

We have a very international team here at Elmar.

sjors14:06:39

If you are interested in migrating to the Netherlands that is simple_smile

liwp14:06:58

@sjors: I'd love to but convincing the family might be more difficult 😉

dkvasnicka14:06:16

That's not a realistic option for me simple_smile A family, two kids, a house with a mortgage on it... simple_smile

jcsims14:06:41

@damionjunk: sounds like a plan. Like I said, feel free to reach out of you have questions. I'm on the SE side, but can point some questions at our data scientists if you're leaning that way.

sjors14:06:42

@liwp and @dkvasnicka I can imagine simple_smile

damionjunk14:06:24

@jcsims: Awesome, thanks! I’m leaning more towards SE, I’m a PhD dropout. simple_smile I still work from time to time with my advisor though, I think I found out that I like building things a bit more than raw exploration and writing, but honestly, I like both.

jcsims14:06:41

Same here - I did my master's work, but enjoyed building far more. I'm about to head in to work, but I'll be online after about 10:30 PST

damionjunk14:06:04

Sounds good. I’ll DM you later. Thanks!

thomas14:06:00

@sjors: sounds good. or should I say "Klinkt goed" 😉

sjors15:06:05

Thanks @thomas ! Or should I say “Dankjewel” 😉 You can always send me a DM when interested simple_smile
