I am looking for a new Clojure job, and would appreciate of anyone could provide feedback on my resume.
I’m self-conscious about presenting my work history. I’ve been programming Clojure for 10 years, but only professionally at my current job for 3 years. I’ve spent a lot of time being a semi-professional artist, so my work history is somewhat non-linear / patchy. I’ve been doing general web dev for almost 20 years (alongside other non-vocational), but not continuous full time employment. How does this read? In feel like I present as junior, but I do have quite deep experience
Also I went to college for several years but left (to pursue art), and don’t have degree. Another point of insecurity..
Impressive! Noticed a typo:
- Built reactive ClojureScript Todo app in with custom in-memory graph
+ Built reactive ClojureScript Todo app with custom in-memory graph
Updated, Thanks!!
Perhaps add a brief intro section where you describe your main "value proposition" in a more qualitative way, in addition to the quantitative list? Maybe a description of an ideal position that would fit your interests, accompanied by a possible path forward career-wise? As far as degree is concerned, I tend to overlook that section in resumes. Skills, experience and motivation are of more interest to me, generally. My 2 cents. Cheers.
@U052A8RUT Thanks for the feedback. I will add that. I can do a lot of things but could certainly benefit from more focus. I’m not limited to front end, but am very excited about visualized repl development like Clerk and Data Rabbit, and also progressive UI frameworks and the stacks they suppose, and will try to pitch towards that.
@U052A8RUT I don't think it's good to put description of ideal position. Because when you apply to the certain job position this is the ideal position you should aim at, not describe for them what you look for (except job ad is very generic or you are pitching directly to some manager who may need different people). @U09D96P9B With that much experience, I'm sure you did many things, so when you apply for certain position, look what they are looking for and tailor cv to highlight what you did that proves you are good fit for that specific position.
