Hi guys. I may try to build a team (4 5 people max) in Paris time zone and around. I'll need to develop something in the first 6 months so a junior is ok but some senior will be needed. If I allow remote work, what is the market like right now? In terms of availability? Are people available?
As a CTO at a Clojure startup, I would highly recommend it! With 4-5 Clojure devs you can achieve a lot more compared to most other programming languages and still have a very manageable codebase without much bloat/boiler plate. Many Clojure Devs are full stack which is a big plus too. You can market to Clojure Engineers on this Slack community, on job boards like https://jobs.braveclojure.com/, https://weworkremotely.com/, https://remoteok.com/, https://hnhiring.com/ ) and other typical places like Linked In and Indeed. There's also recruiters/head hunters that can market the roles. You can also go to Clojure/functional meetups and conferences and network at those. An alternative to also consider is contractors (individuals or companies) - there are several that specialise in Clojure/functional programming. I usually recommend allowing remote candidates as it will give you access to a much bigger talent pool. Many remote devs are prepared to adjust their working hours to better coincide with the main office. This is great to ensure devs aren't blocked by someone being offline. The process of sifting through job applications/CVs, arranging and conducting interviews etc all takes time and most Devs will need at least a month for them to work their notice period before they can start work with you. USA and much of Europe is forecast to be in recession for the next 12+ months, this may lead some devs to switch jobs less frequently and stay put in 'safer' roles.. You certainly should be able to find good Clojure engineers if you are ok with not rushing the hiring process and waiting for the right people.
I am available 😛 https://faster-than-light-memes.xyz/resume.html
