@davd33 what is your current level of Clojure experience, and have you had any remote working experience so far?

seancorfield18:09:48

@davd33’s question was "Hi there! I would like to get a remote position as a Clojure developer. Would someone like to give me some hints?" just so folks have the context of my response.

David Rueda18:09:36

Hi everyone, I'm David, looking for a remote position in Clojure / Clojurescript / Lisp. I worked remotely for about 9 months in 2018. I started Clojure in January 2019. Although I did not have professional experience with it yet, I learned a lot this year about Clojure and functional programming in general. I read "Clojure for the brave and true" as well as "Professional Clojure". In personal projects I learned: reagent, re-frame and compojure. I heard about other frameworks as well but didn't try them yet. And to deep my knowledge about Lisp in general I started to learn Common-lisp two months ago. I have to say, I'm very convinced about Lisp and I would very much like to work professionaly with it!

@davd33 I don't know of many places that will hire a "remote Clojure developer" who doesn't have professional experience with Clojure, because of the difficulties inherent in remote mentoring/training. But at least you do have experience of working remotely so that should count in your favor.

Maybe some folks in Europe who hire remote devs might chime in with more Europe-centric advice/thoughts?
