Hey everyone! I'm Constantine from Hawaii. New to Clojure, but really interested. Tried Python, but it wasn't for me. Clojure seems more like a spartan compared to the common, “foot soldier” languages. It appears to be a great opportunity to secure my future and have an intellectual profession at the same time. Currently going through “Clojure for the Brave and True”, while using CoPilot on VScode and ChatGPT to help me understand better. I'd really appreciate some suggestions to make learning Clojure smoother and more efficient. Thanks and nice to meet you all!
Nice to meet! Assuming you are using Calva, there is a Clojure and Calva tutorial built in. In the command palette find and run Calva: Create a Getting Started REPL project. A good companion to the Brave and True (I say, in a very biased manner). The Claude models in Copilot can help you explaining things. Especially if you install Calva Backseat Driver, a Copilot plugin, giving the agent access to the Clojure REPL. Please join #calva for support with Calva and Backseat Driver.
Oh, and please see https://www.youtube.com/@CalvaTV . There’s some tutorial content there. IN this one I demo interactive programming solving Fizz Buzz: https://youtu.be/d0K1oaFGvuQ?si=dlTivsXn_Wxx1atZ
Awesome! Thanks so much, this looks very helpful. It’s nearing 11pm for me, but I will thoroughly look through everything tomorrow.
Another set of free tutorials: https://clojure-doc.org that might be useful. There's also https://practical.li/
