Hi Everyone, I'm a long time developer (mostly Python nowadays) in the VFX industry and longer time musician/producer/analog recordist. I consider myself far more proficient at the latter, but make far more money at the former. My official background is in pure mathematics and I still have a keen interest there as well as some physics. Way, way back when Perl was still the industry standard (over Python), I was doing some functional Perl programming and it was more natural to me than OOP was/is. As a long time Emacs user, I've always wanted to learn a Lisp in earnest but, until I discovered Clojure, it always seemed like a purely academic endeavor and one I never had time for. It's an interest that's been renewed every now and then and always ended the same way (not doing it). I got very close to picking up Guile on this iteration, but thankfully I discovered Clojure. So here I am. I've been working through Joy Of Clojure and Brave and True. In particular, I'm interested in the Overtone API as well as the Clojure SICMUTILS. It's great to see such a nice and active community around Clojure and I think, no longer being in academic circles, that's a lot of the appeal of Clojure to me (over other Lisps). I'm excited to have the opportunity to become part of the community! I'm based in New Zealand.
