Hey, I am Aaron, I live in Germany and I ve been on and off trying to learn Clojure (as in building real world apps) for roughly the last eight years. But jobs always pushed me back to python (I mostly do webdev in Django). I am now in a position where I think it would really benefit my company if we used clojure and where I could make that decision, so this could be my chance to finally step out of tutorial hell. But on the other hand, my lack of orientation on how to build a prototype is probably a strong argument against that. In any case, I am looking forward to interact with and learn from y'all:)
Hey! I'm Jon, a coder still chasing the joyful feeling of floating a balloon sprite across my C64's screen back in '83, hoping Clojure might transport me there again. I spent the first 20 years of my career building OLAP-powered financial reporting and budgeting systems in Excel/VBA, Perl, Python, Delphi, and C# --- a lovely mess I genuinely enjoyed making. The last 10 years, though, have been a bit of a bummer, as I just can't seem to fall in love with mainstream development work. I've been experimenting with Clojure for the past year and find it hugely energising, especially how it lets me pretend that object orientation never happened. I'd love to be paid to write Clojure, but first I need to prove I can actually do it. With that in mind, I've come here to volunteer for any projects that could use a conscientious soul willing to do dirty jobs. If anyone could use an extra pair of hands, let me know. Cheers!
