Hi everyone! My name is Patrick and I'm from the Arkansas (US). I'm currently a student at Bowdoin College where I'm majoring in CS and Classical Languages and Literature. I've been writing python since I was in middle school, but have written mostly java in HS/College. I discovered clojure through a brief flirtation with Elixir and have fallen in love with the language. I'm currently going through "Clojure for the brave and true" and looking at ClojureDart because I love flutter. If there are any clojure meetups in Maine, Boston or the greater Northeast US I'd love to attend a meetup. Nice to meet y'all!

That is a very interesting choice/combination of majors there! Did you get any pushback on that? (it sort of reminds me of my pick for A-levels -- I'm from England -- and choose Math, Further Math, and... German! people thought that was very strange)

Patrick21:11:06

Haha not so much pushback, but people are generally surprised! That's a dope combination though, as much as I love Ancient Greek, any speakers of the language have been dead for 1000s of years

Classical languages are so wonderful! I have a german major in Theology, so I had to learn Greek, Latin and Hebrew. And still today I love to read some greek. 🙂 An btw. @U04V70XH6: If you would have lived 100 years ago, the combination of Math and German would have been very handy! 😉 😅

Prithee, what do you love about Flutter? (ClojureDart rocks, btw.)

Patrick21:11:24

@U0PUGPSFR I like many things about it. Tooling is great, docs are awesome, the component system is very intuitive for me, and I really enjoy Dart. It feels like the best parts of Java + the best part of JS.

Word up on the doc. I found Flutter's approach quite novel, eg. a bit of styling done not with an option but by adding a nested parent in a long chain of parents. I can see the appeal of that. Given that you are so high on Dart itself, I am curious what you will think about CLJD--perhaps there is no added value? Please keep us posted!
