Hi all! Nice to meet you, I'm Sammi (she/her). I'm a USDA bioinformatician who recently moved to the SF Bay Area. Always been big on functional programming, it was my first paradigm after writing a lot of procedural code in bash scripts, python, and R 😅 Trying to find a job out here that can support me, so I'm doing that awkward "doing interviews in a new field" dance 🤞 But glad to meet you all, hopefully I'll find a local clojurians meetup? DM me if you know a good one! :3

Welcome to Clojurians and welcome to the Bay Area! Keep an eye on #C05006WDW and #C06B40HMY Nice to see APL get a mention!

Thanks, Sean! Will do :) And yes! Hopefully I'll have time to learn more of it soon haha

Sammi (she/her)01:10:10

Oh, and I've got more than a passing interest in Haskell & APL (at least enough to confirm it's not going away at this point! haha)

Oooh… APL! That’s serious 💖 There is definitely a Clojure group in the Bay Area. Perhaps you can ask in #C01MHD3D45B

That group has been inactive for several years but it looks like a new sponsor has appeared so we might be having in-person meetups again "soon"! Very excited about that!

Ah, fantastic! Thank you very much @U051N6TTC! And yeah, I saw some videos on YouTube by Code Report and got hooked! I'm definitely an array lang novice, but the matrix room is a nice place to learn :)

Sammi (she/her)02:10:13

Oh?? Nice to see it get some life right when I join, good timing ;)

Hello! Just curious do you also have an interest in OCaml (since that’s the other functional PL I know and has some interesting similarities and differences with Haskell)?
