Best way to wait for an external JavaScript script (like a checkout.js script from payment provide) that is dynamically loaded async, i.e. not in head of index.html?

I'm curious about approaches to achieve something like the inline edit demonstrated. Implementation in 🧵. Would be interested to see what others are doing for this kind of functionality.
