https://clojureverse.org/t/perils-of-accidental-complexity-in-re-frame/6254/6 some interesting criticism of re-frame that may or may not be applicable to hoplon

alandipert16:07:26

(i think it depends on which framework you choose to make out of hoplon 😆 )

flyboarder16:07:18

I already disagree with the summary 😆

alandipert16:07:32

oh wait, i linked to the wrong thing, meant to link to start of thread

alandipert16:07:12

@flyboarder btw how's it going man?

flyboarder16:07:16

really good actually, how are things on your end?

alandipert16:07:37

weirdly great

alandipert16:07:44

good for us

flyboarder16:07:09

good to hear! seems some people in tech are actually making out pretty well, just hope everyone stays safe!

alandipert16:07:13

i forget, were you mostly WFH before also?

flyboarder16:07:57

we also use a co-working space, which has been empty, so private offices 😛

alandipert16:07:01

cool. yeah being WFH helped, altho we'd just moved to a new place and it's gonna be a long time before we can meet new friends 😐

flyboarder16:07:19

yeah how did the move go?

alandipert16:07:04

it was last year so it was fine, but we were just starting to get settled when this all went down

flyboarder16:07:41

yeah, thats rough - fam doing well tho?

flyboarder16:07:55

im sure they are probably bored

alandipert16:07:25

hanging in there

alandipert16:07:41

yeah unfortunately my daughter is 4 and hanging out with kids is what she really needs at her stage

alandipert16:07:42

but she's gotten into legos, which has been awesome

flyboarder16:07:56

yeah, my nephew is also 4 and obsessed with lego

alandipert16:07:30

their imagination carries them through

flyboarder16:07:49

have you seen the Lego Playgrounds app?

flyboarder16:07:10

she might be too young for sticking an iPad in front of her but

flyboarder16:07:21

Lego AR for kids

flyboarder16:07:52

Im personally really mixed about kids and tech, but there is huge opportunity for fun based learning and education

flyboarder16:07:48

My thing is that behaviour reinforcement comes from them watching adults, which they don’t get with tech

alandipert17:07:10

that looks very cool, will definitely check it out

alandipert17:07:13

thanks for the pointer

hello guys! 🙂 my daughter is an ipad "user" since she was less than a year old. she has already started interacting with it by touching before she was 2 years old. she is almost 6 years old now and i think she turned out well so far. she is playing simple games on it. drawing a lot with the paper app, but even more on actual paper. watches cartoons from netflix (deleted the utube app because of elsagate-like shit is just too easy to access). she regularly reviews photos on it, which are synced from my phone. uses the sample editor to record her singing in garage band. also connects her midi keyboard to garage band. teaches other kids how to use it...

onetom19:07:43

but apart from that she rides the scooter since we was ~3 yrs old. started in-line roller skating and swimming about a year ago. spends a lot of time in our little above-ground pool either alone or with her friends. plays with the sand, shells and the dogs on the beach maybe 1-2 times a week. so i think we could strike a good balance between letting her interact with both the virtual and the physical world. so far...

onetom19:07:10

and she started to ask me a few months ago to read bed-time stories to her. also asks me regularly to put on some music for the past year. im feeding her everything possible, from baroque classics to rock opera, folk and electronic. she listens to most of it in awe 🙂

onetom19:07:29

2 months ago she was captivated by the kirov ballet for 20 minutes. she watched it like as if she would need to take an exam from it afterwards 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rJoB7y6Ncs
