I've been doing mostly Java open source stuff lately. It's really highlighted how nice this community is, and im grateful it exists.

Once again, I have to express my gratitude to @pez for his amazing support on Calva -- and being willing to spend 20 minutes screen-sharing with me late at night to help me track down a global LSP config setting I'd forgotten I'd added ages ago that needed changing due to some changes in the underlying cljfmt program!

You are welcome. Also, in Swedish we have a saying “Det är jag som ska tacka”, roughly translates to “It is I who should say thank you”. It applies here a lot. I really needed your input! gratitude

Thanks everyone who helped me fix the bug I had created with Calva’s reading of the new cljfmt config! gratitude 🙏 ❤️ . I don’t want to miss mentioning someone, but I still want to mention, @kristian.j.kjeldsen who helped me implement the fixes, and @seancorfield and @souza.vitor who helped with reproduction and testing the fixed dev version, and @ericdallo for helping with analyzing what could be the culprit. It’s awful having released a bug like this. It really helps and it also feels much better when the community pulls together and helps me with fixing it.

Interactions like this are heartening. Thank you. I seem to have found a community based on earnest, practical, introspective, give-it-all individual effort supported by others who are doing the same in their spheres. Being ourselves is the greatest gift we can give. Impressive too is the patience. We indeed cause each other to suffer, most often unintentionally and born of inexperience. From what I’ve seen so far, this community is unusually — yet intentionally — patient. Yes, I’ve only been here for a few weeks. Yes, I’m articulating my ideals. Yes, I’m sure I’ll encounter warts and smells and disappointments. No natural water is pure. It’s what’s in the water that matters. So far, for me, there are more electrolytes here than toxins. It’s invigorating, inviting, and encouraging as I grapple with my harrowing, dehydrating work. Thank you for bringing yourselves as intensely as you are. If we outgrow this environment, imagine the vistas.

@pez And I’m learning why people are so supportive of Calva and you: Calva is amazing. Just today, a missing brace led to my code being reformatted. I wouldn’t have found that copy & paste error for a long time without it. Amazing stuff comes from amazing people. Thank you. edit: It’s embarrassing what constitutes a miracle to me at this point. Embarrassing or not, they just aren’t anything less than miracles. That’s where I am.
