For anyone located in the the Netherlands, we just moved our company to the WTC building which is right next to Arnhem centraal. And we will be giving a meetup about Fulcro 2.0 https://www.meetup.com/Avisi-Techdays-TostiTalks-Arnhem/events/246928860/

romni13:01:52

hey @mitchelkuijpers i have a friend who might be interested. is the meetup meant for newcomers to fulcro or is it interesting for people who have been working with it for a while too?

mitchelkuijpers13:01:30

Might also be interesting for people who have been working with it for a while we'll share some insights we learned from Fulcro. And we could just talk about Fulcro since we have a hands-on afterwards

romni13:01:11

cool, i'll let them know!

Speaking of Denver area, any of you fine folks plan on going to lambdacomf this year? https://lambdaconf2018.dryfta.com/en/

dpsutton16:01:36

friend of mine went last year and loved it

t-ice16:01:53

I liked it a lot last year. But wasn't into any specific language. Now that I'm digging into Clojure, it would be cool to try and seek out other Clojure peeps that are going.

yogidevbear16:01:27

A bit unrelated but... Just a friendly reminder if anyone happens to be in the area, we're hosting our first FP meetup in Horsham (West Sussex, UK) on the 7th of Feb https://www.meetup.com/Horsham-Functional-Programming/events/246609047/

dpsutton16:01:44

i posted in the wrong channel. From my friend who went to lambda conf: > It was awesome but dunno if clojure people would like it. It was very haskell centric

t-ice16:01:29

I Definitely agree with that.

t-ice16:01:02

Haskell, Scala, and a dash of PureScript. I don't remember any Clojure talks or workshops. But I wasn't really looking. Might be an opportunity for this community to jump in and propose something!

chris16:01:56

yearly reminder that lambdaconf is garbage

chris16:01:10

the reason why is certainly off topic, but...

dpsutton16:01:43

link is broken. what are they saying?

dpsutton16:01:59

> This Tweet is unavailable.

t-ice16:01:06

I would be interested to know also.

t-ice16:01:22

I guess if you don't really have a "group" You don't notice.

chris16:01:25

short answer is that in 2016 they defended letting a slavery advocate (among other negative qualities about this guy) speak at the conf in the name of "diversity"

chris17:01:43

a bunch of people, including those in our community, declined to speak in protest

chris17:01:27

then, in 2017, they pulled some more nonsense and wrote a self-righteous blogpost about it

chris17:01:12

which is the context for the tweet that's deleted

chris17:01:38

which is why the reply to the tweet says "Hold on—again? Or, was this last year?"

chris17:01:19

unfortunately I don't remember specifically what happened last year to give a more accurate summation

chris17:01:37

the defense of a slavery advocate/fascist was enough for me to wash my hands of it

jgh17:01:57

sounds like a charming individual.

Alex Miller (Clojure team)17:01:22

Just FYI, Strange Loop and ICFP are colocating this year if you want to completely overwhelm yourself with a full week of FP :)

sophiago18:01:24

This is amazing! Really going to try to make it 🙂

jgh17:01:06

further discussion on lambdaconf / curtis yarvin should maybe go in #off-topic .. it seems like an interesting discussion but perhaps not great for #events

Alex Miller (Clojure team)17:01:19

We usually have a number of Clojure talks at SL as most of the organizers are (now) Clojure devs :)

seancorfield17:01:57

@alexmiller Any news about the combined/bigger Clojure/conj this year (given the lack of Clojure/West)?

seancorfield17:01:56

Not even “roughly what quarter of the year” it’ll be in?

seancorfield17:01:19

(I’m trying to plan travel to Europe and don’t want to be in England when the Conj happens!)

Alex Miller (Clojure team)17:01:22

my expectation is summer for Euro and fall for Conj

seancorfield17:01:32

OK, that’ll work for me 🙂

Alex Miller (Clojure team)17:01:33

beyond that, I have no news to report :)

yogidevbear23:01:06

@alexmiller, does that include no news as to the city/county where EuroClojure is going to be hosted? simple_smile

RAMart20:01:08

When looking for Clojure conferences, please don‘t forget the ClojureD Berlin Conference on Feb. 24th: 2 tracks, 7 sponsors, 20 speakers, 21 talks, about 200 Clojurians from 14 countries (as yet) and only 4 weeks to go. http://clojured.de
