greetings, gentlemen, any estimates on clojure/conj 2016 dates/location?

alexmiller12:06:53

we've made a decision on that and are working on contracts - once that's done we will share the news!

alexmiller12:06:03

I'd guess a couple weeks before that all gets finalized

alexmiller12:06:16

looks like it will be early December this year though instead of Nov

glenjamin12:06:51

is it likely to clash with ClojureX?

alexmiller12:06:37

uh, not sure

alexmiller12:06:39

let me check

alexmiller12:06:24

in general there's not a lot of overlap between conj and ClojureX so we might go ahead even if so

alexmiller12:06:16

looks like the potential dates we are looking at would conflict

misha13:06:56

@alexmiller: December ❤️

roberto15:06:10

I imagine that will push clojure-west back to probably late April or early May?

alexmiller15:06:55

it's independent

alexmiller15:06:09

we have not started even talking about locations yet for c/west next year

alexmiller15:06:26

although we will start on that after conj is done :)

bvulpes16:06:12

(portland portland portland portland)

alexmiller16:06:39

I was thinking hawaii

gfredericks17:06:50

portland is the hawaii of western oregon

alexmiller17:06:17

(in which I redefine "precise")

roberto18:06:15

:thumbsup::skin-tone-4: for portland 🙂

nullptr19:06:13

has clojure/west ever been in vancouver, bc?

gfredericks19:06:04

just portland, bay area, and most recently seattle

bvulpes20:06:19

gfredericks: as in tiny, provincial, and an exceptionally expensive place in which to vacation?

gfredericks20:06:55

"they both have the letter 'a' in them"

alexmiller21:06:23

we would love to have it in Vancouver, just have no idea whether that would be a giant hassle for people traveling over the border from everywhere

kidpollo21:06:29

As a Mexican I would need another visa 😛 It could give me an excuse to get it

gfredericks21:06:55

kidpollo: then you could refer to the USA as "flyover country"

lewix22:06:23

@alexmiller: you should have it in Toronto

alexmiller22:06:31

well, same issue

lewix22:06:24

the clojure community is larger in TO

alexmiller23:06:35

but not larger than the US community :)

lewix23:06:31

it shouldn't always happen in the same country 🙂

alexmiller23:06:56

we'd be happy to promote a Clojure event in Canada, but I don't think we are going to extend there with the events we have now. there are just so many things we can do!
