emacs 2025-03-19

https://prelude.emacsredux.com/en/latest/ I wish to try out this emacs- https://github.com/bbatsov/prelude/blob/master/sample/prelude-modules.el will all the packages provided in this will load by default when I install it ?

the configured packages will be installed on launch I strongly recommend either using chemacs2 or –init-directory and just trying it out 🙂 I used prelude for a few years before switching my custom config its pretty good

I see, I just used the default command mentioned in the README.md

The .el file does say the modules are loaded The Prelude website doe say language modules are loaded on demand "Automatic installation of many major programming modes on demand" No need for chemacs or -init-directory unless you want to have more than one active Emacs config in regular use (or you can use a symbolic link) Prelude is great if you are looking for the traditional Emacs experience as well as CIDER. Prelude does not include Clojure LSP, although you can add it to Prelude.

I recently looked at some elisp that emacs ships with (I forget what, something to do with buffer naming of similar named files) and it had code from 1986 that is still in use and perfectly valid

it has amazing longevity

Now I wonder what this diagram would look like for Emacs
